Top 10 Dating Tips for Men
1. Look Your Best
You wouldn’t take your new Mercedes out to pick up a date without washing and waxing it first – why would you go on a date without washing and waxing yourself? Dress yourself in some nice clothing. The most important part is getting clothes that fit you well. Don’t wear baggy pants or oversized tshirts. Go to a more upscale store and don’t be afraid to ask for assistance. Or go shopping with a girl!
2. Hygiene and Style
Go get a haircut and shave. Unless you know that your girl is into neckbeards or shaggy moptops, get it trimmed! You don’t necessarily need to get a professional shave, but a haircut at a nice salon never hurts. If you have problems with BO, make sure you take care of it before a date! Take a shower, and put on some cologne and deodorant. Shower regularly!
3. Career & Ambitions
Women are not interested in a deadbeat who’s flipping burgers at Mcdonalds, or bartending. If you’re looking for a relationship with a quality woman, you better buckle down and get some direction in life. Women want to know that you have ambitions and a career. Even if they pretend that it isn’t important, it actually really is. Get your future in order.
4. Current Events
Be knowledgeable about current events and happenings. Watch the news and read some quality news sources. Being up to date with what’s going on can keep the conversation flowing and make you a more interesting person.
5. Drinking in Moderation
Some light drinking on a date is fine, but don’t overdo it. If you go out with your boys often, keep that on the down low. Women are rarely interested in your “bro time.” If you take her for drinks, go for cocktails at a nice lounge.
6. Be a Gentleman
Women are all impressed by chivalry, no matter how feminist they are. Don’t swear or be rude. Treat everyone around you with respect as well; nothing turns off women faster than yelling at the waiter for messing up your order. Open doors, wait for her to sit down first, pay for the first date, etc.
7. Ask Questions
The easiest way to keep a conversation flowing is to ask questions. Everyone loves talking about themselves, and asking questions shows that you are engaged and listening to her. Remembering things she’s told you and referencing them in the future is even better.
8. Sports Fans
Unless you know she’s as crazy as you, keep your sports to yourself. If you watch a game here and there and enjoy hanging out with your buddies at a sports bar, it’s fine. If you have your favorite team’s logo tattooed on your back, it’s probably better to save that for a 3rd or 4th date. Don’t check your phone for sports scores obsessively whilst on a date. In fact, avoid checking your phone at all while on a date. Keep your attention on her.
9. Keep It In Your Pants
If you want a long term relationship, never go for sex on the first date. Even if she’s giving you the signals, your restraint will only make her want it more. If you’re looking to hook up on the first date you can probably ignore a lot of the items on this list.
10. Don’t Smoke
Unless she’s a smoker as well, this is typically a deal breaker. It smells terrible, is unhealthy, and empties your wallet. Don’t do it!
